We tested this Apollo S in a variety of conditions, and its responsiveness is what impressed us most. What we particularly like is the uniformity of the beam, which prevents hotspots in the centre of the image, even without using a diffuser. The proprietary battery pack offers a comfortable battery life, allowing you to complete two or three dives in a row without having to open the compartment to recharge.

Can cables from different brands be used? ? Yes: this strobe is fitted with a standard fibre-optic connector. It works perfectly with Marelux Lumilink cables but is also compatible with Sea & Sea fibre-optic cables.

Does the indicator light go out when the trigger is pulled? Exactly: the modelling light switches off instantly when the flash fires, so as not to affect the white balance or exposure of your final shot.

Does the flash come with a diffuser? The Apollo S features a front panel designed to diffuse light naturally, but optional diffusers can be added to achieve an even softer light on delicate macro subjects.
