FOURTH ELEMENT neoprene hood
This thermal protection uses stretch neoprene that makes it easy to put on while ensuring a snug fit throughout the dive.
Available in several thicknesses (3 mm, 5 mm, and 7 mm), it is designed to accompany you on all your dives in cold and temperate waters, where heat loss through the head becomes a limiting factor for divers.
The design incorporates a system of micro-perforations on the top of the head to release trapped air without letting cold water in.
The interior has a smooth coating (Glideskin) on the face and neck to create an effective barrier against water ingress. Water drainage zones are strategically located to prevent the suction effect during ascent.
The flexibility of this model is surprising from the first try-on. It avoids the feeling of compression on the temples that is found on many 7 mm models. The air evacuation system works perfectly, so you never finish your dive with a headache. It is a safe choice for anyone who dives regularly below 14°C.
How do I choose the right size for my head ? As neoprene is very flexible, the hood should fit snugly without squeezing your jaw. Measuring the circumference of your head above your eyebrows is a good starting point, but trying it on is still the best method.
Does the air release system let cold water in ? The diameter of the perforations is calculated to allow air, which is lighter and more fluid, to pass through, while blocking the massive entry of water thanks to the natural tension of the neoprene.
Can a mask be worn over the hood ? Yes, the mask skirt fits over the Glideskin face seal to ensure a watertight seal, or directly under the hood, depending on your preference.
