What strikes you about the K01 base layer is the softness of the fabric. What I particularly appreciate is the complete absence of seams: when you’re wearing a tight-fitting garment for an hour under water pressure, not having any marks or chafing on your skin really makes a difference. The silver fibres are a real bonus for those on intensive diving trips, as the garment stays cool for much longer than a standard Lycra base layer.

Can it be worn on its own for sun protection ? Yes: although it is designed as a thermal base layer, its elasticity and coverage make it an excellent garment for protection against UV rays and skin irritation during snorkelling sessions or between dives.

How should it be cared for to avoid damaging the silver fibres ? A rinse with fresh water after each use is sufficient. For a more thorough wash, opt for a short cycle at a low temperature (30°C) and avoid the tumble dryer to preserve the Lycra’s full elasticity.

Does the garment feel scratchy because of the silver ? Not at all: the silver fibres are woven right into the core of the yarn. It feels incredibly silky against the skin, much more comfortable than standard synthetic technical base layers.
