Diveavenue expert’s review of Seac Standard boots

What I like about the Standard HD model is that it doesn’t compromise the finning action. As there is no rigid sole, the foot retains full mobility. It’s also a great choice for those with slightly wider or ‘stronger’ feet who often feel cramped in standard boots. It’s simple, effective and takes up minimal space in your dive bag.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can you walk on rocks in them ? You can, but be careful: the sole is designed for grip and thermal protection, not for walking. As it’s flexible, you’ll feel the unevenness of the ground. It’s perfect for a boat deck, less so for a walk over sharp pebbles.

Do they wear out quickly at the heel ? The neoprene is of good quality, but as there is no rigid reinforcement, you must ensure that your fin strap is properly adjusted (neither too loose nor too tight) to avoid unnecessary friction.

How do you choose the size ? They’re quite stretchy. You can go for your usual shoe size. If you’re between sizes, the flexibility of the design usually means you can choose the smaller size for a snug fit underwater.
