BIGBLUE STRB-RGB Strobe Light

BIGBLUE STRB-RGB Strobe Light

The BIGBLUE STRB-RGB Strobe Light is more than just an emergency flashlight: it allows you to mark an entry point or a decompression stop, or to distinguish between dive groups in total darkness, simply by changing the colour.

It is an essential companion for night diving, cave diving or dives in murky water. Its large push-button is particularly easy to use: even with thick winter gloves, you can change modes easily and without hesitation. Back on the boat, simply recharge its standard 18650 battery to set off again straight away.

Diveavenue expert review: BIGBLUE STRB-RGB Strobe Light

What’s brilliant about the STRB-RGB is that it solves the ‘who’s who’ problem underwater. When diving in a group, you assign a colour to each dive group and you instantly know where everyone is. The red mode is also brilliant for marking a passage without scaring off all the local marine life. It’s powerful, reliable and slips into a BCD pocket without you even noticing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can it be used as a spot light ? Not really: it’s a strobe, so it flashes continuously. It’s designed to signal a position or presence, not to illuminate a stationary subject. However, its flash is so powerful that it cuts through the murk where a standard torch fails.

How do you know if there’s any battery left ? There’s a light indicator right on the button. What’s more, when the battery drops below 20%, it halves the frequency of its flashes: this is a clear visual signal telling you it’s time to think about recharging.

Is the battery a specific type ? No, it’s a standard 18650. This is a huge advantage as you can easily carry spare batteries with you if you’re heading off on an expedition far from any power sockets.
